Illegal structures removed during JMC’s drive

The anti-encroachment squad removed shops, kiosks, handcarts and also dismantled platforms and sheds

Anti-encroachment department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC), on Monday conducted drive in many areas of the city and removed a number of permanent and temporary structures which got erected illegally along main roads. The anti-encroachment squad removed shops, kiosks, handcarts and also dismantled platforms and sheds.
Senior officials of the department informed that the anti-encroachment squad conducted drive on the route from Bahorabagh to Charkhamba and removed temporary structures including kiosks, make shift shops, iron sheds etc.


They said people had encroached the main road by placing a number of temporary shops on both sides of the road. The encroachments were hindering free flow of traffic. Officials said the department had earlier warned the vendors and asked them to remove the shops from the road. But, they paid no heed to the warning.


Hence taking strict action against the illegal act, the anti-encroachment squad conducted drive and razed all temporary structures. Apart from that it also razed some permanent structures like sidewalls, platforms and sheds.
Likewise, the squad also conducted drive on route from Dashmesh Dwar to Madan Mahal Railway Station, on Monday evening. Senior Officials informed that the central squad of anti-encroachment department repeated drive on the route and removed both temporary and permanent structures.


The squad removed vegetable vendors from the route who had placed shop on both sides of the road. After removing shops, senior officials also warned the vendors of strict action if they reoccur the area.


It may be noted that the squad had recently removed kiosks from the area. The squad had also removed sheds and dismantled sidewalls, ramps and cement platforms which go erected infront of shops and residences on entire stretch of the route from Dashmesh Dwar to Madan Mahal Railway Station.


On Monday, senior officials inspected the area and saw people had reoccupied the area. Fruits and vegetable vendors have decked shops on both side of the road. Hence, taking strict action against the illegal act, the anti-encroachment squad conducted drive on Monday evening and removed encroachments.
