RPF seizes 11 kg ganja from train passenger, arrests youth

Railway Protection Force’s (RPF) Crime Intelligence Unit (CIB) on Monday arrested a passenger of 16031 Andaman Express for transporting 11 Kg Ganja (Marijuana) in the train. The accused was transporting Ganja from Mahbubabad of Andhra Pradesh to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.


The accused is identified as Chikati Kiran Venkanna (26), a resident of Nillikudur, Eleru, Warangal. According to information, a team of CIB conducted searches in the 16031 Chennai-Katra Andaman Express and suspected the passenger who was sitting on berth no. 57 of S-5 coach. During checking of his luggage, RPF men discovered Ganja packets in a trolley bag. The passenger was taken to RPF post and detained. Value of the ganja is believed to be Rs one lakh in the market.
The RPF have handed-over the accused and seized Ganja to Government Railway Police (GRP). GRP have booked the accused under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.


Under the guidance of Divisional Security Commissioner of Central Railway Jyoti Kumar Satija, the arrest was made by Inspector B D Ippar and staff including Dipak Wankhede, Vijay Patil, Kishor Choudhary, Nilkanth Gore, Ramniwas Yadav and others.
