Raipur,

Thousands of candidates, seeking admissions in BEd course, reached the SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training), BTI Ground, on Sunday morning to protest alleged irregularities in the admission to various BEd colleges of the state. They alleged that all the seats were filled through unfair means in the midnight of Saturday when the date of counselling was fixed as September 30.

It is worthwhile to mention that the BEd colleges of the state have 13,000 seats and counselling for admission to these seats was initiated in July end. As per schedule, the last date for the counselling was September 20 and candidates secured ranks between 1 and 23,000 participated in the counselling. As most of the seats were filled through online counselling, it was decided to hold face-to-face counselling for remaining seats from September 21 to 30, for which online application submission was mandatory.

It was alleged by the candidates that the authorities filled all the seats till midnight on Saturday unlawfully instead of waiting for the face-to-face counselling. Meanwhile, according to SCERT Director Sudhir Agrawal, there was nothing wrong in the admission process. The SCERT followed all the rules and regulations in the admission process, according to the Director.
