Mayor briefs Singapore students about city’s history

Mayor Alok Sharma welcomed a delegation of students of Singapore’s educational institutions who are on visit to city of lakes to know about the city’s history, culture, heritage and innovative ideas.


The Mayor welcomed them with bouquets and greeted the members of the group. During the discussion, the Mayor gave information regarding the history of 1000 years of Bhopal, culture heritage and the development of the city as well as about protection and promotion of heritage.


Speaking about the cleanliness survey of 2016, 2017 and 2018, innovations used for cleanliness to make Bhopal consistently as the second most clean city in the country.
The Singapore team appreciated beautification work of Bhopal as well as both lakes of city and efforts of Mayor Alok Sharma and BMC officials to make Bhopal as second cleanest city. Team leader Alker Saxena told that students of different countries who are studying in Singapore's renowned institutions expressed their desire to know about Bhopal.


Most people know Bhopal due to gas tragedy but the special thing of this city is good nature of Bhopalites and their hospitality. On the occasion, senior journalist Alim Bazmi and Shailendra Kumar Shaili also gave information about Bhopal's history, freedom struggle and merger movement, cultural heritage and civil facilities whereas senior journalist Prawal Saxena expressed gratitude.
