Rahul, Sonia, Manmohan to attend prayer at ‘Bapu Kuti’ on October 2

Local Congress leaders remain divided ahead of the national meet

Congress Working Committee (CWC) - the highest decision-making body of Congress - is meeting at Sevagram after 70 years. Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA President Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and all CWC members will participate in a prayer at ‘Bapu Kuti’ to mark 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi will lead a padyatra from a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at 1 pm. He will address a public meeting at Circus ground at 3 pm. This was informed by Ashok Chavan, President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) to the party workers at Devadia Congress Bhavan on Sunday.
The longstanding factional feud among local Congress leaders was palpable at the function as Tanaji Vanve, Leader of Opposition in NMC organised a separate event to discuss the preparations for the CWC meeting.

Vilas Muttemwar, former Union Minister; Mukul Wasnik, General Secretary, AICC; Nana Patole, All India Kisan Congress President, Vikas Thakre, City Congress President; Rajendra Mulak, District President; Umakant Agnihotri, Subhash Dhote, Atul Kotecha, Vishal Muttemwar, Sheikh Hussain, Mujeeb Pathan, Shakur Nagani, Yashwant Bajirao, Dr Avinash Warjurkar, Bandu Sawarbandhe, Prem Sagar Ganvir, Kishor Borkar, Bablu Shekhawat, Girish Pandav, Dr Gajanan Hatwar, Prof Dinesh Banabakode, Bandopant Tembhurne, Jayant Lute, Raman Paigwar, Sandesh Singalkar, Pragya Badwaik, and others also were present on the dais.

Ashok Chavan said, around 15,000 party workers are likely to participate in the meeting from across the country. The party should maintain peace and harmony during the meeting and prayer at ‘Bapu Kuti’.

Vikas Thakre said, the party workers will pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Variety Square at 8 am and then they will proceed for Sevagram. He appealed to the party workers to assemble at the venue in large number and participate in the prayer and meeting of Rahul Gandhi. Bandopant Tembhurne compered the programme while Sandesh Singalkar proposed a vote of thanks.
At the function, former NMC officer D D Jambhulkar joined the party. Ashok Chavan welcomed him by presenting the party sachet.

In another meeting at NMC, Tanaji Vanve, Dr Nitin Raut, Chairman SC Cell; Gev Avari, former MP; Ashok Dhawad, former MLA; Anees Ahmed, former Minister; Yadavrao Deoghare, former MLC; Praful Gudadhe Patil, senior coporator; Nitin Kumbhalkar, Secretary MPCC; Yashwant Kumbhalkar, Vijay Babhre, Subhash Bhoyar, Manoj Sable, Suresh Jagyasi, Mahendra Borkar, Deepak Kapse, Nana Zode, Chandrabhan Lanjewar, Kanta Parate, Dhiraj Pande, and others also were present.




Cong plans preparations for senior leaders’ visit

CITY unit of Congress organised a convention of party workers at Pradeep Mangal Karyalaya, here on Sunday to plan for Padyatra of Rahul Gandhi, President of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and public meeting to be held in Wardha on October 2 to mark 150th birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The senior leaders of the party guided the party workers on the occasion.

Ranjit Kamble, MLA; Charulata Tokas, State President of Women’s Wing of Congress; Sunil Kolhe, District President; Shekhar Shende, Secretary of Maharashtra Congress Committee; Sudhir Pangul, City President; Hemalata Meghe, District President of Women’s Wing; Shabbirkhan Pathan, District President of Minority Cell; Dharmapal Taksande, District President of Backward Class Cell; Dhairyasheel Jagtap, Tehsil President; Manoj Chandurkar, former Zill Parishad Member; Vipin Raut, District President of Youth Congress; and Pratik Bhoge, District President of NSUI, addressed the party workers and appealed them to participate in padyatra of Congress President and attend the public meeting. The office-bearers and party workers attended the convention in large numbers.

City unit of Congress has organised a motorbike rally in the city on October 1. The rally will began from Aarti Chowk at 3 pm and it will pass through the streets of the city. Sudhir Pangul, City Congress President, has appealed to all to participate in motorbike rally.
