Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh on Sunday said, he remembers the time when shikshakarmis were getting merely Rs 500 salary per month and from here the standard of education started deteriorating. Today, shikshakarmis have been merged with the school education department and they are happy getting benefits at par with regular teachers. The Chief Minister stated this while addressing the Shikshak Mahasammelan at Indoor Stadium on Sunday. Meanwhile, everybody present at the programme was hoping for a major announcement for the merged shikshakarmis such as gradation, removal of salary discrepancies and appointment on compassionate ground, but the Chief Minister restricted himself to a short speech and left the venue.


Addressing the programme, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar took the opportunity to speak to the teachers who were shouting slogans like ‘Chief Minister Jindabad’, ‘Sambilayan Ki Jai’ etc. The minister said that this was not a political programme and teachers must not forget their dignity. If this continues, the programme will not continue, said the minister.Some teachers shouted slogans during the welcome speech by their leaders Virendra Dubey and Kedar Jain. Also present in the programme were Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal, Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap and RDA Chairman Sanjay Shrivastav.
