BHARATIYA Kisan Union (BKU) protested at Madhya Pradesh Milk Federation, demanding rates of milk purchased from farmers should be increased. Bharatiya Kisan Union was of the view that current rates of cow milk and buffalo milk are low. Moreover, many times, farmers are turned away from milk procurement centre, hence, such arrangement should be made that entire milk should be purchased.

As part of token protest, Bharatiya Kisan Union workers distributed milk in free to people. Later, they presented memorandum to Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Milk Federation.

Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, Bharatiya Kisan Union’s General Secretary Anil Yadav told that earlier milk purchase centres were installed and rates of milk too was increased. Farmers were encouraged to produce more milk of cow and buffaloes. Observing this, many farmers purchased cows and buffaloes in big way. But now milk purchase centres are also being reduced and when there is no need of milk, farmers bringing milk are turned away. He demanded that rate of cow milk should be increased to at least Rs 35 per liter and buffalo milk should be increased to Rs 50 per liter.
