Two involved in various crimes arrested

A team of City Kotwali Police on Tuesday nabbed two youths while solving a theft case reported from Baraipara a week ago. The accused were involved in a house burglary incident and the stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 50,000 has been recovered from their possession.

The accused admitted committing the theft while on information given by them, the police also recovered the booty from their houses. The accused have been identified as Dhansukh alias Akash Yadav (25 years), a resident of Mathpara and Saraswati Nagar resident Prahlad (19 years). Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) BP Gupta informed that the victim Jagdeesh Rajpoot, a resident of Baraipara behind Kali temple had lodged a complaint in regard to the theft on October 1 this month. The victim’s house is under construction at Baraipara and on the intervening night of October 1, the accused trespassed in his house and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 50,000.

The victim discovered about the theft on the following morning consequently which he lodged a complaint. Subsequently, the City Kotwali Police had registered an offence against some unidentified thieves under section 457 and 380-34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). ASI Gupta said the accused were caught roaming near the victim’s house under suspicious circumstances while on interrogating strictly, they admitted to the theft.

They also revealed hiding the ornaments in their house. Meanwhile, the police have recovered the booty worth Rs 50,000 and further legal proceedings against the accused were in progress at the City Kotwali Police Station.
