Jai Rewakhand protests displacement of people from Madan Mahan hills

Jai Rewakhand staged protest against displacement of people from Madan Mahan hills by conducting sudden and unplanned anti-encroachment drive by the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC). Jai Rewakhand workers, welcoming the directions issued by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, said to protect and conserve the natural bio-diversity and beauty on the hills of Madan Mahal, the encroachments are necessary.

But the sudden, unplanned action by authorities without giving any time to the people for shifting caused problem and violation of direction of apex court. Families were living on Madan Mahal hills since many decades were forcibly displaced in this drive without giving prior time and space for their rehabilitation. Such act of administration is inhuman and illegal.

Addressing a public meeting, Jai Rewakhand founder, Adarsh Muni Trivedi said that, around 16,000 families are to face displacement from Madan Mahal hills. Even the apex court, in its verdict, has termed the displacement a calamity on human beings, while also giving directions time to time to prepare rehabilitation policy. As per the Madhya Pradesh Rehabilitation Policy 2009 for the urban displaced people, provisions of different income groups 1000 to 5000 sq ft plots to every family is provisioned. For this, the State Government, in coordination with the local municipal corporation or council, which is as per directions of apex court.

Jai Rewakhand State President, Ashish Trivedi, Pt Alok Mishra, Rishabh Dubey, Jeetu Katare, Manoj Dubey, Lalit Rao, Neeraj Singh along with Dinesh Mahadar, Raju Mehto, Dinesh Rajput, Mantu Kashyap and others shared their views.
