Veena Sendre, hailing from Raipur district, brought laurels to Chhattisgarh by winning India’s Miss Trans Queen crown.
Talking to mediapersons at Raipur Press Club on Wednesday, Veena emphasized the need of acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community in the society.
Children from LGBT community must get support from their families so that they could fulfill their dream, observed Veena Sendre, who belongs to Mandir Hasaud village of Raipur district.

“My victory is being seen as a big fillip to the transgender community in the country. We hope now acceptance of LGBT community will increase in the society,” she said.
Veena said since childhood she felt ‘different’ from others and therefore she had to face a lot of problems. “Nobody wanted to be my friend, rather everybody used to make fun of me. I left my studies when I was in 5th standard, but was back with books a few years later. I spoke with my mother about doing something different in my life,” said the country’s first Miss Trans Queen. She said that she got constant support from my family making it possible for her to achieve the title. Veena said that she would represent India in the international level Trans Beauty Pageant.

Veena expressed gratitude towards the people of the state for giving their valuable support for the national level beauty contest as well as JCI.
Replying to a query, Sendre said that she wants to pursue her career in the field of modeling and movies.

Earlier, Veena won Miss Chhattisgarh Trans Queen crown. She has participated in various ramp walks during Lucknow and Bengaluru fashion weeks.
It may be noted that Veena Sendre defeated Namita Ammu of Tamil Nadu to claim the title at the national-level beauty contest organised in Mumbai on October 7.
