Accused involved in double murder case arrested

After about 48-hours of prolonged hunt, Takhatpur Police finally arrested the double murder accused who brutally axed his in-laws and seriously wounded his wife in a Government Guest House at village Khapri Narmada located about 30-kilometers away from here on late Monday night. The injured has been admitted in the hospital where her condition is still serious.
The accused after committing the crime escaped from the scene and was hiding in his friend’s and sister’s house in Rajim.


On Wednesday evening he landed at Bilaspur to board a train and escape from the state when the sleuths nabbed him from Railway station.


The accused during interrogation has confessed to his crime. Police have registered an offence and started probe. Earlier, it may be recalled that the accused Ashwini Dhuri alias Golu (36) son of Ramcharan Dhuri resident of Kormi village under Takhatpur Block brutally axed his in-laws Siaram Dhuri (60) and Shakun Dhuri on late Monday night and injured their daughter and his wife Uma Dhuri (30).


His father in-law Siaram Dhuri was posted as Caretaker in the Public Works Department (PWD) Guest House at village Khapri Narmada since last 20-years where he stayed in a staff quarter adjacent to the Guest House along with his wife and daughter who was separated from her husband since last three years and had filed a divorce suit with the court. Additional Police Superintendent (ADSP) Archana Jha informed that even after separation Ashwini often came to the Guest House asking Uma to return back home but she refused everytime.


On the fateful night Ashwini came there once again asking Uma to accompany him back home, but she denied. When he tried to convince her parents, they also refused to send their daughter and grandson along with him after ther
past experiences.  Irked with this Ashwini made a deadly assault on his wife and in-laws with an axe.


The blows were so severe that both Siaram Dhuri and his wife Shakun Dhuri were killed on the spot while Uma Dhuri sustained grave injuries on her neck, stomach, legs, chest, waist and back. She has been admitted in Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences where her condition remains critical according to the doctors.


ADSP Archana Jha said that after the incident they formed four different teams to nab the accused. Police also intensified its networks and alerted the pointers. On Wednesday Police received an input that Golu was hiding in his friend’s and sister’s house in Rajim and planning to escape from State.

The accused during interrogation has confessed his crime. He informed Police that his marriage life broke due to his wife who was maintaining an illicit relationship with another youth in the village.


But when he informed this to his in-laws, they turned down his allegations and wanted him to divorce their daughter against ransom alumni. He was not even allowed to meet his child due to which he was frustrated and committed the crime. Police have registered an offence against him under section 302, 307 and 450 of Indian Penal Code and started further probe.
