Constable riding sports bike sans helmet dies, friend injured

A 24-year-old police constable, who recently got this job on compassionate grounds following death of his father, died after the sports bike he was riding along with his friend seating pillion hit a divider before ramming into rotary near Polytechnic Square, Shyamla Hills police said on Thursday.
According to investigation officer Assistant Sub Inspector R K Sharma, the deceased has been identified as Harish Yadav, 24, son of Prem Narayan Yadav, who basically hailed from Bhind and presently living here in D-9/49 of Police Line, Nehru Nagar. Harish’s father had died two year back after which he got job in police department on compassionate grounds.

The incident took place at midnight while he was heading towards Ghoda Nakkas in Hanumanganj area and passing by a road near MLB College. Harish was riding the Bajaj KTM Duke Sports bike (MP-04-QF-7502) while his friend Vishal Ahirwar, who is a college student, was a pillion rider. Injured Vishal, in his statement given to the police, said that they were going to Ghoda Nakkas for collecting a mobile phone from a repairing shop. He was riding bike at very high speed. At the time of taking turn, Harish lost control over the bike as a result pillion rider Vishal was thrown on road from the bike. However, Harish, who was riding the bike, was dragged with the motorbike for a few metres. He sustained severe injuries on his face and head as he did not wear helmet at the time of accident. Locals gathered around the accident place. A local helped Harish and rushed him to Hamidia Hospital in his car where he succumbed to the injuries undergoing treatment after which police were informed regarding the incident. Police handed over the body to his family after post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of CrPC.
