Economic Offences Wing (EOW) carried out a raid against Assistant Engineer and incharge of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Indore Municipal Corporation, and unearthed disproportionate assets between Rs 10 and Rs 15 crore on Thursday.  The market price of disproportionate properties could be two to three times higher than the estimate registry cost. Properties were purchased in the name of accused and his close relatives.


EOW said that disproportionate assets of accused includes luxurious bungalows constructed on plot number 203A and
204 and three-storey commercial complex on plot number 18. Apart from this, investigating officers also found that accused has constructed luxurious houses on plot number 298 and on plot number 80, plot number 12 DAS of Scheme 78. Some other immovable properties were also found.


Along with this, cash Rs 20 lakh and gold ornaments of two kilogram in weight were also recovered.
The cost of seized ornaments is said to be around Rs 60 lakh. Some gold biscuits were also confiscated. As many as 36 life insurance policies having investment of Rs 16 lakh were also recovered from him.


Three four-wheelers and two two-wheelers, bank passbooks of different banks having cash deposits in lakhs of rupees were also recovered. More than this, documents pertaining to many moveable and immovable properties and building permissions were seized.
Interestingly, accused also purchased many immovable properties in the name of his younger brother Santosh Singh Rathore, who is working as time keeper in Indore Development Authority.


The properties purchased in name of Santosh Singh Rathore include plot number 298 in Bagh Colony. The area of this plot is 1800 square feet.  Along with this, plot number 80 sector C in scheme number 78, plot number 12 Sector A, plot number 457 in scheme number 134 have been also found in the name of younger brother of accused.


Investigating officers also filed case against Rathore’s sister Maya Singh, his nephew Amit Singh, brother-in-law Pradeep Singh Rathore, wife of brother in law Poonam Singh Rathore as accused for assisting him in garnering
disproportionate assets.


Abhay Singh Rathore’s son Jai Singh Rathore was operating two commercial properties in the name of Doyen Developers. A three-storey building was constructed by accused in Ring Road Area of Indore and its cost is around ERs 1 crore.  It was found in search that accused nephew Amit Singh Tomar has registered Nitin Electronics in Bajrang Nagar but when officials visited Bajrang Nagar, no such shop was found.
