Man attempts self-immolation

It was panic-like situation in house at Babatola falling under Hanumantal police station on Thursday morning around 9.30 am when one 35-year-old man attempted self-immolation by setting himself afire by pouring k-oil. The man, having sustained serious burn injuries, was rushed in Ambulance 108 and is undergoing treatment at the district hospital.


According to information, panic was reported in the house of Chaudhary, resident of Babatola under Hanumantal police station. The man named as Sumesh Chaudhary (35), who woke up around morning having finished his morning workout. In a sudden development that took place, he locked himself in the room, poured k-oil and set himself ablaze. In the process, he screamed, making the family to rush to the room and found the door closed from inside.


With great difficulty, the door was dismantled. As the man was seen in flames, the family members who covered him with a blanket helped to douse the fire. Amidst panic, Ambulance 108 was called and the injured was admitted to district hospital. On being informed by hospital administration, police reached the hospital and have started investigations. It is informed, that the man who woke up in morning had indulged in dispute with his family members on some issue. Later, under depression, he locked himself and attempted a bid on his life by attempting self-immolation by setting afire by pouring k-oil. Undergoing treatment his condition is reported to be stable.
