Tourism Deptt to enhance marketing for exclusive festivals like Bhagoria

In a bid to enhance influx of tourist Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) is focusing on creating space to provide awareness about culture and heritage.

On one hand, events like heritage walks which was organised all over State in different locations aimed to mobilise youth and locals about knowledge of tourist spots on the other it is also encouraging visitors to use the social medium to tell about the experience of heritage sites.

The Tourism Department is geared up for marketing of exclusive festivals like Bhagoria. The festival is keen on exploring the age-old festive spirits then immerse yourself in the inspiring culture, art, local food and less-known heritage of the tribal land of the western Madhya Pradesh. Fairs are an important part of the tribal lives as they give the entire community a much-needed break from their monotonous routines. ‘Bhagoria’ is one such vibrant carnival which is celebrated by various tribes like Bhil and Bhilalas.

This is one of the oldest festivals greatly admired in the regions like Jhabua, Dhar, Alirajpur and Khargone. The festival also gives platform to catch glimpses of the young tribal people, all dressed up in colourful attire, playing the traditional instruments, singing and performing the regional dance at the haats. The cheerful ambience and during 'Bhagoria' one can experience the essence of tribal culture. Also, an array of shops selling the silver jewellery to clay pots to fruits and vegetables. Haats at this festival are with a great shopping experience.

The historical significance and Bhagoria has an agricultural significance attached to it. It commences with the end of harvesting season.  The local people, therefore celebrate the festival to mark the completion of the same.
The Travel Mart that was concluded last week in State capital was focused on many such strategies of marketing mainly to explore more avenue to develop tourism sector.
The Tourism Mart witnessed participation of 75 buyers from overseas, 125 buyers from different states of the country and tour, travel operators, hotel, delegate of hospitality industry etc took part.

The Travel mart was followed by B2B discussions in which travel operators and representatives from hospitality industry world wise participated.

The primary objective of this mart was to market and promote Madhya Pradesh as a destination throughout the year . Besides Exclusive focus on domestic and inbound tourism into Madhya Pradesh was also given to reassure the position of the State as an preferred tourist destination in the world.
