Prayer at Bapu Kuti, CWC meet and rally in Wardha

CONGRESS President Rahul Gandhi will virtually launch election campaign from the land of Mahatma Gandhi at Sevagram and Wardha on October 2. The party has decided to compare rule of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Union Government with British Raj and will appeal people to dethrone the party from Centre.

Rahul Gandhi will address a rally at Circus ground Wardha after attending a prayer meeting at Bapu Kuti in Sevagram and holding a meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) - highest decision making body of the party.

Randeep Singh Surjewala, Communication Head, AICC while talking to mediapersons at Nagpur on eve of CWC meet, said, “Congress is observing 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Sevagram. The party is meeting after 70 years in Sevagram. Previous meeting was held in July 1942, when Mahatma Gandhi had given the slogan of ‘Quit India’. Now, people of the country want to get rid of the anti-people, egoistic, BJP Government from the nation.”
Surjewala compared British Government with Modi Government on several issues like social, financial, divide and rule, encroachment on Democracy, bullets to farmers, exploitation of Dalit, backward, women, tribals community in the country. “There is no difference between British rule and Modi rule and present government is trying to suppress the voice of opposition by using CBI and Enforcement Directorate,” Surjewala stated.

Congress will appeal people to resolve to make country free from corruption, anarchy, unemployment, encroachment on human and democratic rights in the nation. The party will reach upto 132 crore people of the country, Surjewala added.

While replying over Pakistan criticism of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at United Nations, Surjewala stated that Pakistan and Sangh were spreading hatred in the country. “Sangh has always opposed Gandhism and was slave of Britishers. Pakistan is also believing in hatred and division, it is also promoting terrorism. Pakistan and Sangh are contemporary to each other,” he added. However, he welcomed the new approach of RSS of inclusiveness of all.

While justifying the allegation of ‘Chor’ against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Surjewala said opposition parties had also indulged in mud-slinging against then Prime Ministers of Congress.

Surjewala again questioned the Prime Minister’s silence on the Rafale jet fighters deal with France. “This is admission of guilt by silence. The Prime Minister should answer why Government purchased Rafale planes at higher rates than UPA. Why the government reduced the number of planes from 126 to 36 and why it dumped HAL and gave contract to Anil Ambani’s company,” he asked.

Ashok Chavan, President MPCC, gave details about the programme organised at Sevagram. Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Adv Yashomati Thakur, Vijay Wadettiwar, Sachin Sawant, Pranav Jha, Atul Londhe, Nitin Kumbhalkar, Vikas Thakre, Abhijeet Vanjari, Vishal Muttemwar, Sevak Waghaye, Asif Qureshi and others were present.
