Mayor directs civicadministration to start off-line clearances

Already reeling under financial crisis, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is losing huge revenue as Building Plan Management System (BPMS) software of Town Planning Department is not functioning properly. As a result, all the building plans submitted on-line by the builders and developers are pending for clearance for months.

To sort out the issue, Mayor Nanda Jichkar and Ruling Party leader in NMC Sandip Joshi have directed the administration to start off-line system to sanction building plans.

Cash-strapped NMC is facing financial problems and Town Planning Department is sitting pretty over 63 proposals of builders for last several months, alleged Joshi and added that in these months, NMC has lost a revenue of Rs 25 crore. Joshi said, Town Planning Department should clear the proposals off-line and resume revenue generation for the civic body. This software is prepared by the State Government and remains idle for last four months.

Meanwhile, a delegation of CREDAI and Architect Association called on Virendra Kukreja, NMC’s Standing Committee chief; and Ravindra Thakre, Additional Commissioner, to raise the issue regarding pending clearance of building plans.

Pramod Gawande, Assistant Director of Town Planning Department; Shrikant Deshpande, Deputy Engineer; and Praful Farkase were present in the meeting. CREDAI pressed for early solution to the problem. The members informed the civic authorities that builders are already facing problems due to economic slump and this has increased their worries. Thakre assured the delegation of resolving the problems within three months.
