Nimad belt of Madhya Pradesh has remained stronghold of BJP. This could be gauged from the fact that out of sixteen Assembly seats of Nimad area, BJP has won 11 Assembly seats in last election. Rest five seats are with Congress. The strong network of RSS and its different work has helped BJP in a great manner.

Whatever identity of Congress is in Nimad area it is due to former Congress State President and ex-Deputy CM late Subhash Yadav. During his life time, Subash Yadav conducted movements in Nimad belt having majority of tribals and tried to strengthen Congress organisation.
Nimad belt comprises Khandwa, Khargone, Badwani and Burhanpur districts. Currently, Subash Yadav’s son Sachin Yadav is MLA from Kasrawad Assembly constituency, Khargone district.

Congress leaders of Nimad area admits that Nimad belt is bastion of BJP but if Congress party gives assembly tickets to right persons then Congress can perform better in Nimad and can even wrest some assembly seats from BJP. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ Congress district president for Khandwa city, Indal Singh Pawar told that Nimad area has been never strong hold of Congress. However, BJP leaders have done no significant works in Nimad and hence this time, if Congress distributes tickets judiciously then situation could be in favour of Congress.

When contacted, BJP MLA from Badwah assembly seat (Khargone) Hitendra Singh Solanki told to ‘The Hitavada’ that it is BJP which is going to maintain its stronghold in Nimad area of state. “ It is most likely that, BJP may snatch some Congress assembly seats in Nimad area,” he asserted.

He further added that in BJP, it’s the lotus symbol which fights the election not the candidate. BJP government has done lot of works in Nimad area and they are going to help BJP in winning as many as assembly seats in Nimad area. Notably, Nimad area is dominated by tribals.

“During the tenure of Shivraj government, development works have been done in big manner and they are all set to pay dividends to BJP in elections. Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi popularity is going to provide edge to BJP. Congress is issueless in area and it is only concentrating on farmer’s loan issue. This time, BJP will increase its tally of assembly seats in Nimad and Congress is likely to get limited to only two assembly seats including Kasrawad,” said BJP district president from Badwani, Om Khandelwal.
