Magnificent Narmada Mahotsav ends with scintillating performances

THE two-day mega event ‘Narmada Mahotsav’ concluded amidst splendid full moon night of pious ‘Sharad Poornima’ at Marble Rock valley of river Narmada on Wednesday. The evening of Sharad Poornima became memorable for many with performance of noted Sufi Singer Hansraj Hans, while dances and colourful entertainment programmes added festivity to the celebration.

West Central Railway General Manager Ajay Vijayvargiya was chief guest, while Divisional Commissioner Ashutosh Awasthi presided over the programme. Collector Chhavi Bharadwaj, Superintendent of Police Amit Singh, Divisional Railway Manager Dr Manoj Singh, Additional Advocate General R K Verma and other eminents were present on the occasion. The programme was jointly organised by Jabalpur Tourism Promotion Council in association with Department of Culture, Ministry of Culture, Madhya Pradesh Government, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, district administration, District Panchayat, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation and Bhedaghat Nagar Panchayat near world famous Dhuadhar waterfall.

An exhibition of handicraft and handloom was also organised along with food festival offering delicacies of Mahakoshal as well other parts of the country. Appreciating the programme, chief guest Vijayvargiya said the tradition of organising such wonderful event is a treat for art and culture lovers of Jabalpur and entire Mahakoshal region. He welcomed guests artists from different parts of the country and appreciated performances by local artists. The programme commenced with performance of Devi Vandana by artists of Navrang Kathak Kalan Kendra, Jabalpur, under the direction of Dance Director Moti Shivhare.

Followed by Chandramohan Thakur and his team performed famous Sirmori Nari Nrtria of Himachal Pradesh. Noted Sufi Singer and Music Director Hansraj Hans presented various popular numbers sang and composed by him. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by CEO of Tourism Promotion Council Hemant Singh.
