Narsinghpur SDM caught taking Rs 2 lakh bribe

IN A major breakthrough, a team of Lokayukta police special establishment, Jabalpur, caught a Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Narsinghpur, while taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh for allotment of sand mines to a private contractor and seized Rs 2.65 lakh cash from his room on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as R K Vanshkar, SDM and Joint Collector, Narsinghpur, a native of Raisen.


Officers of Lokayukta police nabbed the accused R K Vanshkar, when he was taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant named Surendra Rai, owner of M/s RK Rai Company.


Deputy Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Jabalpur, Dilip Jharbade informed that they received a complaint from Surendra Rai that he obtained contract for construction of 17 roads under the head of Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana in development unit of Narsinghpur. He was also given four sand mines for construction of road which required SDM’s permission. He contacted the SDM several times seeking permission for four sand mines but he demanded bribe of Rs 2 lakh for the same. Acting on the complaint, a team of Lokayukta police fielded the appellant to collect evidences. SDM Vanshkar called the appellant for payment of bribe at PWD Rest House in Jhoteshwar and directed him to place cash below sofa cover at the rest house.


Once the information was confirmed, Lokayukta police team reached PWD Rest House in Jhoteshwar and trapped the officer of Government Department red-handed when he was taking out Rs 2 lakh cash. During search, Lokayukta police seized Rs 2.65 lakh from the room of SDM at rest house. DSP Jharbade informed that a team of Lokayukta from Bhopal started search for disproportionate properties with the corrupt Government officer. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act while further investigations are underway. During the trap, Lokayukta police team was led by DSP, Dilip Jharbade, Inspector, Manoj Gupta, Inspector, Kamal Uike, Constables Govind Singh, Jeet Singh, Vinod Chouhan and Surendra Singh.
