One of inter-state gang committing thefts arrested

Raipur Police claimed to have arrested a member of interstate-gang, which targets four-wheelers for committing thefts by breaking its glasses with the help of certain chemical in the city, police said on Wednesday. The arrested has been identified as M Gokul (19), a native of Tamil Nadu, said police.
Shedding more information about modus operandi of the gang, a senior police officer said “after identifying the target for committing theft, the gang-members spit certain type of chemical on glasses of four-wheeler which help them to break it without making any noise. Meanwhile, they also dropped notes with denomination of Rs 10, 20 and 50 for misleading people close to the vehicle.”

After being informed about an attempt of theft by breaking car’s glass with the help of chemical recently reported in limits of Ganj police station, teams were immediately formed to nab the accused, informed the officer. Based on precise tip-off, a joint team of CCB and police swung into action and arrested Gokul within four hour after he entered the city, claimed police, adding that after committing crime in West Bengal, the gang reached here in Raipur.

According to police, between December 2017 and January this year, the Trichy-gang had committed around 11 thefts by breaking glasses of four-wheelers in the city. During the course of investigation, it came to light that the gang, which move in different parts of the country for committing crime, subject its members into the training of theft from childhood. A gang member Dev Kumar Swami was also arrested previously in Raipur, informed police.
