Educationist must produce morally upright human beings, says Dr Uma Vaidya

“A leader must be like a missionary. Working relentlessly himself to make his task successful. He must work himself and be a role model. Each educationist must produce academically strong, financially sound, spiritually well-trained and morally upright human being,” exhorted chief guest Dr Uma Vaidya, former Vice-Chancellor of Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek, who was addressing the gathering of Principals of Bhavan’s Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools, during the valedictory function of the ninth all India conference organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra, on the theme “Generating leadership with vision, mission and passion” at Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Srikrishna Nagar, Wathoda on Thursday.


Present on the dais were Principal of B P Vidya Mandir Vandana Bisen, Ashti; Principal B P Vidya Mandir Civil Lines Anju Bhutani; Associate Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Nagpur Kendra Rajendra Purohit; Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra Annapoorni Shastri. Director of Shikshan Bharti, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai Rakesh Saksena presided over the function.


Present in the gathering were Executive Committee members A K Mukherjee. Krishnan Kutty, G Balasubramanian, Director BVM Kochi Kendra; E Raman Kutty, K M Agrawal, Sunanda Sonarikar, Prof Q H Jivajee, Rakesh Purohit, Padmini Jog, Renuka N Menon, Sukumari Menon, Meera Vishwanathan.


Rakesh Saxena spoke on new challenges and problems the Principals are facing today. “We have to match with the change otherwise we will lag behind. Time and society is also changing thereby increasing responsibility of
principals in which safety and security of children, particularly girls has been added.”


Saxena further went on to add that one must try to de-stress the school activity. “A principal must have influence on his or her teachers. It works more effectively than power,” quipped Saxena. He went on to state that the conference has become richer with friends from Gulf countries participating and contributing. He profusely thanked Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Nagpur Kendra for making the conference truly memorable. He presented a bouquet to Director A Shastri, in the presence of Principal Anju Bhutani and Nirupama Shankar, as a token of appreciation for the hospitality and entire flawless execution of the event, that got a standing ovation.


Superannuated Principals were feted on the occasion. Dr Uma Vaidya, Rakesh Saxena and Dr A Shastri distributed certificates .


Earlier, Principal BP Vidya Mandir Civil Lines Anju Bhutani welcomed all the delegates and participants and also introduced the chief guest Dr Uma Vaidya, who was felicitated at the hands of Director Dr A Shastri. Rakesh Saxena was felicitated by Associate Secretary Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Nagpur Kendra Rajendra Purohit. Nirupama Shankar Principal BP Vidya Mandir Srikrishnanagar feted NK Ramchandran. Principal BP Vidya Mandir Koradi Sarbani Bose conducted the proceedings while Principal BP Vidya Mandir Ashti Vandana Bisen proposed the vote of thanks.
