Staff Reporter,

IN A shocking incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Traffic and a constable were attacked with an iron rod by an auto-rickshaw driver near Kanha Lake View, Supatal, under the jurisdiction of Garha police station on Friday. The incident took place when ASI Basant Kumar Umrele and Constable Deepak Daheria stopped an auto-rickshaw (MP-20R-4074) near Supatal. The cops found that he was violating safety norms by putting an additional sitting arrangement in the auto and hence issued a challan to the driver.

Instead of receiving the challan, the driver Micky Rajak started abusing the policemen and threatened them to life. Before they could learn his intentions, the auto driver took out an iron rod from his rickshaw and attacked the policemen. In the attack, ASI Kumar sustained wounds on his head and ear, while Constable Deepak also sustained head injury.

Taking a serious note of the incident, Superintendent of Police Amit Singh (IPS) along with police team reached the spot and ensured treatment to the injured cops. The injured were rushed to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital for further treatment of their critical injuries. Acting on the complaint of ASI Basant Kumar Umrele (59), Garha police have registered a case under sections 307, 353, 332 and 186 of the IPC. Continuing a rigorous search, police have succeeded in apprehending the accused auto-rickshaw driver Micky Rajak (28), a resident of Gurudev Colony, Badanpur Hills, while further investigations are underway.
