Chhattisgarh RTI Activists Association (CRTIAA) on Friday filed a complaint with State Election Commission (SEC) regarding successive posting of a senior Public Work Department (PWD) officer in Raipur district for past several years. Claiming that In-charge Executive Engineer of PWD R Nashine may indirectly influence the coming assembly elections in the state, the association has filed a complaint addressed to Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo and demanded immediate transfer of the officer.

“Nashine is posted here in State Capital for over past 10 years. In 2008, the officer was posted as Sub-Engineer (SE) in Raipur division and later elevated to Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) rank here only. At present, he is In-charge Executive Engineer in the department and currently, posted in Raipur district. His job profile also includes supervision of Circuit House, at Civil Lines,” said CRTIAA office-bearer Sanjay Singh Thakur.

Thakur also alleged that the officer has been here in the district during past all the elections including 2008 and 2013 Assembly as well as general elections. Now, it is going to complete hattrick with 2018 elections scheduled to be held on November 12 and November 20 in Chhattisgarh.
On being contacted, In-Charge EE R Nashine said that it is not his fault if he is being continued in the same district for past several years. Nashine, however, asked this newspaper reporter to ask the State Government, why it is not shifting him.

On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Subrat Sahoo, failed to respond despite repeated attempts by this newspaper reporter to reach him out for his version into the matter. The CEO was also left with text message for his much-needed reply into the matter.

Meanwhile, renowned RTI activist of State, Rakesh Choubey said that the In-Charge EE Nashine enjoys shielding of influential politicians and that’s was he managed to stay in the district under PWD Raipur Division for past several years. “We urge the State Election Commission (SEC) to take a serious cognizance of the complaint and immediately transfer him to other district,” Choubey said, adding that, any further delay in taking action –deemed to be a deliberate attempt – would force the RTI activists to file a writ against the state poll panel in the Chhattisgarh High Court.
