Congress workers protest outside CBI office in Raipur

Congress staged a day-long dharna in front of CBI office, situated at VIP Road, here on Friday, opposing National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s move to send CBI Director Alok Verma on leave.  Former Union Minister of State Dr Charan Das Mahant, Raipur Rural MLA Satyanarayan Sharma, State Congress Spokesman Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari and other leaders participated in the protest.

Former Union Minister Dr Charan Das Mahant and Satyanarayan Sharma alleged that the CBI is being misused by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and constitutional institutions are being weakened by the government. Youth Congress leaders also participated in the protest. Additional Superintendent of Police Raipur (City) Prafull Thakur said that at least 10 youth Congress leaders were detained by the police and they were taken to Central Jail Raipur. Later these Youth Congress leaders were released.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Youth Congress Working President Koko Padhi and Mahendra Gangotri also levelled allegations against the NDA government.Urban District Congress Committee Raipur President Girish Dubey, Abraham Roy Mani, Sandeep Valmiki, Deepak Mishra, Vinod Tiwari, Milind Gautam, Vipin Mishra, Nikhil Khichariya, Lokesh Vashishth, Amit Sharma, Manharan Verma and other party leaders were also present.
