Congress releases fourth list of 17 candidates

Congress on Sunday released the fourth list of its candidates for 17 Assembly segments going to poll in the second phase on November 20.
Central Election Committee of All India Congress Committee General Secretary Mukul Wasnik released the fourth list with the names of 17 party candidates on Sunday evening. The Congress released the fourth list with names of Gulaab Singh Kamro (Bharatpur-Sonhat-ST), Ambika Singh Dev (Baikunthpur), Chintamani Maharaj (Samri-ST), Dr Preetam Ram (Lundra-ST), Purushottam Kanwar (Katghora), Mohit Kerketta (Pali-Tanakhar-ST), Dr Rashmi Singh (Takhatpur), Rajendra Kumar Sahu (Beltara), Motilal Devangan (Janjgir-Champa), Gorelal Berman (Pamgarh-SC), Kismat Lal Nand (Saraipali-SC), Dwarikadheesh Yadav (Khallari), Vinod Chandrakar (Mahasamund), Chandradev Prasad Rai (Bilaigarh-SC), Janak Ram Verma (Baloda Bazar), Lakshmi Dhruv (Sihawa-ST) and Anila Ravindra Bhendia (Dondi Lohara-ST).


The party has fielded Ambika Singh Dev, niece of first Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh late Ramchandra Singhdeo, from Baikunthpur seat.


The Congress has replaced sitting Lundra MLA Chintamani Maharaja on Samri assembly seat while Samri MLA Dr Preetam Ram has been made as the party candidate from Lundra assembly segment. In the fourth list, four women Congress leaders have been made as the party candidates.


Mohit Kerketta has been made as the Congress candidate from Pali-Tanakhar assembly constituency in place of sitting MLA Ramdayal Uike, who joined the BJP recently and is contesting the assembly election on the BJP ticket from the same constituency. So far, the Congress has announced 72 candidates out of 90. A total of 10 women Congress leaders have been made as the party candidates, out of 72 seats, so far. The Congress sources claimed that the party would declare the names of candidates for remaining 18 seats by October 31.
