Police nab two of three accused in illegal liquor trade

Garha police have nabbed two of the three accused involved in illegal trade and transportation of liquor and seized 487 quarters of country liquor and four mobile handsets from them in Chhui Khadan area. The arrested have been identified as Sajan Jharia (28), Ranjan Jharia alias Mithun (29), residents of village Devri Patpara in Barela, while another accused named Sonam Yadav managed to escape from the spot.

According to Garha police, on the direction of Superintendent of Police, Amit Singh police have started a special campaign to put a vigilant check on illegal trade and transportation of liquor. During the campaign, police received information about some suspects, who were transporting illegal stock of liquor in a car.

Taking prompt action on the information, police started a search and succeeded in identifying and stopping a car near water overhead tank in Chhui Khadan area.In the search of car, police team seized 487 quarters of country liquor filled in three sacks in the car. Police team arrested two men travelling in the car, while third man named Sonam Yadav escaped from the spot. Police team also seized four mobile handsets from the car. Prima facie, the accused informed that they were directed by a man named Sonam Yadav to transport liquor to customers against the payment of Rs 500 per day. Garha police have registered a case against the accused under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act and started a rigorous search for Sonam Yadav, who is still at large after the trap.
