Dr Khera honoured with first ‘Mahatma Gandhi Smriti Karyanjali Puraskar’

Gandhian ideologue and retired teacher of Delhi University Dr Prabhu Datta Khera was honoured with first “Mahatma Gandhi Smriti Karyanjali Puraskar” by Chhattisgarh government in a function held at Gandhi Bhawan, Budhapara in Raipur on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, on Tuesday. Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh presented the award to Prabhu Datta Khera for exceptional work in the field of education. Khera was felicitated with a cheque of Rs 5 lakh and citation. Swacchata Doot and weavers were also feted in the programme.

The Chief Minister inaugurated ‘Karyanjali’ scheme. RSCL’s ‘Neki ki Gadi’ and ‘Book Donation festival’ were also flagged off.  Dr Singh also inaugurated Keyar Bhushan Shanti Parisar. Addressing the function, Dr Raman Singh praised Khera’s works to educate children from primitive tribe Baiga community.
In the function, the Chief Minister announced to convert Abhyaranya Shiksha Samiti (ASS) Higher Secondary School into a Government School. In addition, Dr Singh also announced to give Rs 20 lakh for the school building and Rs 5 lakh for library in the school.

Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar, Urban Administration Minister Amar Agrawal, Raipur MP Ramesh Bais, Chief Secretary Ajay Singh, Additional Chief Secretary R P Mandal, Director of Panchaytat and Rural Development Department Jitendra Shukla, Raipur Collector Basava Raju, Raipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rajat Bansal, Mayor Pramod Dubey and other officers were present.
