Mayor Alok Sharma administers oath of cleanliness to make Bhopal clean city


MARKING the 150th birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, a cleanliness rally was taken out by Mayor Alok Sharma in different parts of the State capital, on Tuesday morning in which Mayor administered oath to Bhopalies to make Bhopal most clean city of country in the cleanliness survey of year 2019, for which the civic body needs active participation of city residents.


On the concluding day of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Fortnight, Mayor also carried out cleanliness race from Mahatma Gandhi Square of BHEL Township, in the presence of Minister of State Vishwas Sarang. Earlier, Mayor paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. He left the balloons and flagged off the race.


Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Alok Sharma in his speech said, “Our Bhopal is performing well in cleanliness campaign and in the last two surveys, we have secured second place in the survey. The credit for the second place for the second consecutive time, goes to people of Bhopal and the active support tendered by them. I hope that the people of the city in the coming days will co-operate with similar devotion.” Mayor expressed gratitude towards all the participants of the race organised for spreading cleanliness awareness for hygiene and cleanliness and also gave best wishes. On the occasion, Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) Tapan Bhowmik, BMC Commissioner Avinash Lavania, Additional Commissioner of MP Singh and large number of students, sports persons and dignitaries associated with various sports institutes were also present.
