Lifetime Achievement Award 2018 to Sudhir Verma in badminton

This year, fifteen Eklavya Awards, ten Vikram Awards and three Vishwamitra Awards along with a Life Time Achievement Sports Award will be presented to the selected players and trainers

State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia has declared the names of selected players and trainers for various eminent sports awards to be presented in the Sports Award Ceremony 2018 on October 4 at TT Nagar Stadium.


Awards including Vikram Award, Eklavya Award, Vishwamitra Award and Lifetime Achievement Sports Award 2018 will be presented to the selected players and trainers. The names have been selected by Madhya Pradesh Government’s Sports and Youth Welfare Department. This year, Eklavya Award is being awarded to fifteen junior players, Vikram Award to ten senior players, Vishwamitra Award to three sports players and a sports celebrity will be awarded with the Life Time Achievement Award for the development and life-long contribution to the sports. Sports award ceremony will be held on October 4 at Martial Arts Stadium, TT Nagar Stadium at 11 am.
Olympian and Padmashri Sushil Kumar will grace the occasion as the chief guest.


Among the fifteen players who will be conferred the Ekalavya Award 2018, five players are from Indore, three from Bhopal, three from Jabalpur, two from Hoshangabad and one each from Bhind and Gwalior. The players are Advaita Page (Swimming) Indore, Adya Tiwari (Soft Tennis) Hoshangabad, Jahanvi Shrivastava (Canoeing-Kayaking) Bhopal, Shreya Agarwal (Shooting) Jabalpur, Muskan Kirar (Archery) Jabalpur, Naorame Anita Devi (Cycling) Jabalpur, Raju Singh Bhadauriya (Equestrian) Bhind, Namrata Batra (Wushu) Indore, Uma Chauhan (Sailing) Bhopal, Nisha Tayade (Fencing) Bhopal, Durva Mudris (Softball) Indore, K Neeraj Rana (Hockey) Gwalior, Vivek Prasad Sagar (Hockey) Hoshangabad, Akash Nainiwal (Kabaddi) Indore, and Paritesh Pal (Weightlifting) Indore.


Vikram Award-2018 awardees include five players from Bhopal, two from Indore, each player from Hoshangabad, Rajgarh and Shahdol. Under this, player Harshita Tomar (Sailing) Hoshangabad, Virendra Batham (Canoeing-Kayaking) Bhopal, Prannoy Khare (Equestrian) Bhopal, Anam Basit (Shooting) Bhopal, Kirti Chandani (Soft Tennis) Bhopal, Rukmani (Rowing) Rajgarh, Juhi Jha (Kho-Kho) Indore, Pooja Vastrakar (Cricket) Shahdol, Bheem Sonkar (Powerlifting) Indore and Sonu Golkar (Cricket) Bhopal in Divyang category will be awarded with Vikram Award.


This year’s Vishwamitra Award 2018 will be given to Vinod Mishra (Canoeing-Kayaking) Bhopal and Mutum Ibomacha Singh (Cycling) Jabalpur in individual sports and Ghanshyam Chaudhary (Kabaddi) Indore in the team game.


While the Lifetime Achievement Award 2018 will be presented in the badminton discipline to Sudhir Verma from Dhar district for a remarkable contribution to badminton.
