Staff Reporter,

Unprecedented security arrangements are being ensured by Intelligence Wing of Chhattisgarh Police for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President and Rajya Sabha member Amit Shah, scheduled to visit Durg district on October 5. He is visiting here to attend State Level National Women’s Conference of BJP slated to be held in Boudh Vihar Maidan in Supela area of Bhilai.

Shah, a ‘Z-plus plus’ protectee, inclusive of Advance Security Liasoning (ASL) component, will have impregnable security cover, since Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials have classified him in the ‘high threat quotient’ category. The Chhattisgarh Police have been asked to maintain high level alert.

“Discussion to hold a full dress security rehearsal with full paraphernalia all along the route and places, the BJP leader’s scheduled visit to Bhilai, is been meticulously discussed and planned. The rehearsals would be conducted 24-hours well in advance in consultation with the top brass of IB and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) – the central security agency entrusted the responsibility to extend the ‘Z plus plus’ security cover to Shah – are likely to visit on Wednesday,” said a senior police official requesting anonymity.

Meanwhile, according to official sources, Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Ashok Juneja, shot a communiqué on Oct 1 detailing the security entailment for Amit Shah. “An army of 4 Commandants of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF), two Superintendents of Police (SPs), four Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs), three CAF’s Deputy Commandants (DCs), 14 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) nine CAF’s Assistant Commandants (ACs), 15 Inspectors, 30 Sub/Assistant Inspectors, 40 Head Constables and 150 Constables, have been roped in for deployment in Bhilai during the VVIP visit,” reads the copy of confidential communiqué’ by ADG Juneja.

In addition to this, as per the secret communication of State Police’s Intelligence Wing, a contingent of 150 new recruits (male), 100 women (female), two Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team, two Bullet Proof (BP) cars, one Signal Jamming Vehicle, 43 Door Framed Metal Detectors (DFMD) with Operator and 50 Stoppers, have been asked to put at the disposal of Durg Range Inspector General of Police by October 3rd, Wednesday afternoon. “All the manpower and resources have been asked to be availed from the districts of Bilaspur, Korba, Raigarh, Janjgir, Surguja, Koriya, Surajpur and Mungeli,” reads the directive of the ADG Intelligence, from Old Police Head Quarter (PHQ), Civil Lines.

It is pertinent here to mention that Amit Shah gets round-the-clock security cover by the Central Reserve Police Force. Besides the 30 commandos who protect him at any given point of time, he is provided with additional cover by the local police while visiting various states. Other prominent ASL protectees are President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Rajnath Singh. The ASL team goes to areas that political dignitaries are scheduled to visit almost two weeks in advance. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the so-far arrival of ASL team to Bhilai or Raipur, to take up security detailing of Shah’s visit.
