‘Women should contribute to remove social evils’

Governor participates NABARD’s State-level exhibition

GOVERNOR Anandiben Patel said that women self help groups (SHGs) should ensure their contribution to remove social evils and addiction which are spreading in the society. Governor Patel was addressing closing ceremony of the national-level exhibition-cum-sale fair of products of self help groups, artisans and agriculturist organisations organised by NABARD. Governor Anandiben Patel said that if we all take pledge to follow the path of Gandhiji, of not taking intoxicants and follow the path of truth and non-violence, it will be a true tribute to Gandhiji.


She said that all the countries consider their nation as masculine, but our country is worshipped as Bharat Mata. Therefore, women in our country have been honoured for centuries. She said that Mahatma Gandhi fought for freedom by running spinning wheel, thousands of freedom fighters laid down their lives for the country without any discrimination, and today we are struggling with the problem like casteism. Patel said “We have to think what we wish to do for our country.


Prime Minister’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ concept can be realised only, if we love our country and work in the country’s interest by extending support and co-operation for education of all, help poor and development of all. She said our ancestors encouraged the idea of reaching out to the masses. Prime Minister endeavoured to reach out to the masses by making schemes as per Gandhiji’s dreams in the last four years.


Commissioner of Agriculture Production P C Meena, Principal Secretary Agriculture Rajesh Rajoura, Principal Secretary Co-operatives K C Gupta, Chief General Manager of State Bank of India Yogendra Singh, General Manager Union Bank of India J S Chouhan and senior officials and representatives of other departments were present on the occasion. Women, agriculturists and elite citizens in a large number took part in the programme.
