HC orders authorities to complete Bilaspur-Raipur NH works by Dec

In a matter relating to the construction of Bilaspur-Raipur National Highway, the State authorities filed their reply on Thursday. Earlier, looking to the delay in completion of work, the Chhattisgarh High Court Division Bench had directed the respondents to complete the work by December 2018.

It may be mentioned here that the project is already running with a delay of 56 months and the travellers are experiencing hardship. Earlier, the Chhattisgarh High Court Division Bench also had directed the Secretary, Department of PWD, Engineer-in-Chief PWD, Regional Officer, National Highway, Raipur, and the high ranking officials of the three contractors involved in construction of NH 200, that is Bilaspur-Raipur highway to remain present in the Court and file their affidavits as to when the construction will complete.

The order was issued in a petition filed by one Rajat Tiwari seeking directives to the State administration to complete the construction of the Bilaspur-Raipur highway at the earliest. The petitioner highlighted the poor condition of the road and sought the indulgence of the Chhattisgarh High Court in the matter.

It may be mentioned here that one of the three contractors involved in construction namely M/s Dilip Buildcon had announced that the project ‘Construction of 4 Laning of Sargaon-Bilaspur of NH 200 (New NH130) total length about 35.5 Km section of Raipur-Bilaspur Road in the state of Chhattisgarh under NHDP-IV on EPC Mode awarded by the National Highways Authority of India, has been completed. The Provisional Completion Certificate has been issued by the said authority on 14 July 2018 and has declared the project fit for entry into commercial operation as on 20 May 2018.
