Spl squad seizes 9 tonne beef

SPECIAL Squad of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Harsh Poddar seized nine tonne beef valued at Rs 13.50 lakh and a truck in which it was illegally transported from an unauthorised slaughter house at Uppalwadi on Kamptee Road Wednesday night. Cops booked ten persons, including a truck driver, in this connection.


The accused have been identified as driver Akbar Shah, a resident of Shivshakti Nagar; Mohammad Israil Mohammad Jaheer, a resident of Futana Oli, Kamptee; Sheikh Akeel Sheikh Gaffar, a resident of Pili Nadi, Majri; Sheikh Mohammad Sheikh Sardar, a resident of Teka Naka; Mohammad Ismail Mohammad Jaheer, a resident of Kamptee; Mohammad Faiyaz Mohammad Ramzan, a resident of Hamid Nagar; Rafuddin alias Rafu Ansari Sirajuddin Ansari (30), a resident of Taj Nagar; Niyaz Ahmed Mohammad Yaseen, a resident of Futana Oli; Mohammad Ashfaq Abdul Rehman, a resident of Pili Nadi and Sheikh Tausif Sheikh Hasan Patel, a resident of Uppalwadi.


Squad members got information that some persons were slaughtering cows behind the house of accused Sheikh Tausif Sheikh Hasan Patel in front of Green Pots Nursery at Uppalwadi and loading beef in a truck (MH-40/BG-4729) on Wednesday night. The squad raided the place and caught the accused when they were loading the beef in the truck.


An offence under Sections 11(1)(L) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, read with Sections 5,5 (c), 9,9(a), 9(b) of Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment Act) 2015 and Section 83/177 of Motor Vehicle Act against the accused persons.


The seizure was made by API Omprakash Sontakke, PSIT Jitendra S Thakur, constabulary staff -- Rajkumar Janbandhu, Mahesh Bawne, Pankaj Lande, Vinod Sontakke, Suraj Bharati, Pramod Wagh, Dinesh Yadav, Prabhakar Mankar, Ravindra Raut and Mrudul Nagare under the supervision of Dy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Poddar.
