Special checking drive launched ahead of polls

In a view of forthcoming Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and frequent visits of political parties’ bigwigs, Raipur police on Friday, launched a special checking drive in entry points of the State Capital.

“Under this, police personnel are subjecting vehicles entering to Capital during night hours into frisking. The objective of this exercise is to check entry of arms, liquor and other illegal stuffs. Apart from this, police personnel are also keeping close watch on all entry and exit points, while maintaining a close vigil on mid-range hotels, lodges and dormitories,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Praful Kumar Thakur while talking to The Hitavada.

He further elaborated that specific instructions have been given to authority of these establishments about maintaining data and correct information of their customers. Besides, hotels and lodges have been asked to immediately inform about suspected customers as well as suspected items being carried out by them, added the officer.

To maintain law and order in the city, Raipur police is also making list of miscreants for initiating procedure to externed them. Moreover, police here also preparing cases under National Security Act.  “Since, Chhattisgarh is going to witness assembly elections this year and senior politicians are frequently visiting here, police is conducting special checking drive in entry points of the capital city to avert any untoward incident,” said the ASP.


Police conduct surprise inspection at RDA colony


Raipur police, on early Friday morning, carried out surprise inspection at RDA colony falling in limits of DD Nagar police station. The surprise checking was a part of routine exercise to ensure safety of common mass and take stock of suspected people residing in any locality.

The posse of two City Superintendent of Police, four inspectors, two sub-inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspector, four head constables, four constables and a group of female police personnel were pressed into the task of surprise inspection.

On the occasion, police personnel have carried out checking in around 360 houses located in 30 blocks within the colony. Besides, action against 49 persons was carried out by police under prohibitory sections and three persons faced action under Motor Vehicle Act for not having appropriate number plate  on vehicles.
