Over 4.42 lakh voters to cast votes in Jammu local polls

46 polling stations declared hypersensitive during the elections scheduled to begin from October 8

 

OVER 4.42 lakh voters will be exercising their franchise across Jammu district in first phase of Urban Local Bodies elections scheduled to begin from October 8. However, 46 polling stations have also been declared hypersensitive in Jammu district having one Municipal Corporation and seven municipal committees.


“As many as 4.42 lakh (4,42,159) voters will be taking part in ULB election process in Jammu district on October 8,” Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner said.


Kumar, who is also District Electoral Officer, said, “the polling will take place from 0700 hours to 1600 hours,” adding, “the ULB polls are taking place in the state after a long gap and after the process, it will smoothen the flow of funding in wards for overall development.”
