CM announces constitution of Sant Rohidas Charmakar Kalyan Aayog

Former cop Y C Pawar appointed Chairman, Bhaiyyasaheb Bighane of Charmakar Seva Sangh as Member

 

Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, announced on Sunday that Maharashtra Government had constituted Sant Rohidas Charmakar Kalyan Aayog to redress grievances and know the aspirations of Charmakar community. Fadnavis made the announcement during a programme organised by Charmakar Seva Sangh here.


The Chief Minister informed the gathering present on this occasion that Y C Pawar, former IPS officer, was appointed Chairman of the newly constituted Commission. Bhaiyyasaheb Bighane, Founder President of Charmakar Seva Sangh, has been appointed as Member of the Commission. Fadnavis felicitated Bighane in the programme.


Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister of Nagpur and Bhandara districts; Nanda Jichkar, Mayor; Nisha Sawarkar, President of Nagpur Zilla Parishad; Dr Parinay Fuke, MLC; Narendra Bhondekar, former MLA; Subhash Pardhi also shared the dais on this occasion. Charmakar Seva Sangh had organised the community meet to felicitate meritorious students.


“The situation is fast changing for Charmakar community. The community members have risen to great heights in various walks of life, youngsters are excelling in higher education. Government is implementing various welfare schemes for the community including scholarships to meritorious students to study abroad,” said the Chief Minister while addressing the gathering.


Fadnavis assured the community members that the Government would re-structure Sant Rohidas Leather Industries & Charmakar Development Corporation Limited, and implement various schemes. Responding to the demand for a community hall in Nagpur, he asked for a proposal and said that the Government would make available not only land but also bear 90 per cent of the expenditure required for the purpose. He asked Bawankule and Dr Fuke to follow-up the matter.


Gadkari congratulated the Chief Minister for the announcements. However, he said that the proposed community hall should serve as a centre for skill development and not remain confined to venue for weddings. He urged senior citizens from community to prepare a plan for a hostel and assured funds from Central Government for it.
