‘Follow Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s call of unity’

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had spend his life for uniting India. His vow of unity should be followed and preached across the country, said Union Minister of Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday. Gadkari was addressing as a chief guest of ‘Ekta Daud’ (Run for Unity) organised by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) at Samvidhan Square.

Legislators including Sudhakar Kohale, Vikas Kumbhare, Dr Milind Mane, Prof Anil Sole, acting Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, standing committee chairman, Virendra Kukreja; former Mayor, Pravin Datke; Tax Collection Committee Chairman, Sandeep Jadhav; former Mayor Archana Dehankar; sports officer Naresh Sawaitul; sports inspector, Naresh Choudhari; senior trainer Bhau Kane; BJYM President, Shivani Dani; Jaiprakash Gupta, Bhojraj Dumbe and others also shared dais.

Gadkari recalled the contributions of Sardar Patel brought all dynasties together and united the entire country. People in India should follow his principles and start living with unity by forgetting castes, creeds, religions, sects etc. Unity is must to make nation strong and people should vow to strengthen the nation, he added.

The birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is being celebrated across the country as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Din’ and all states, cities and towns in country organise ‘Ekta Daud’. NMC is organising Ekta Daud every year. Satish Halami and Geeta Chacherkar won the first prizes in men and women categories respectively. Other winners include Dnyaneshwar Pada, Nitin Pugati, Divya Nakhate, Kajal Kanhapure etc. Gadkari gave away the prizes to winners on this occasion. Prajakta Godble, achiever of All India University Tournament; and her coach Sunil Kapgate; Monika Raut for successful participation in International Athletics Railway Games; Nikhil Shende national runner were also felicitated on this occasion.

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI): Regional office of NHAI organised Run For Unity at Ram Nagar. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari flagged off the event. Chandrashekhar regional officer NHAI administered the National Integration Pledge to officers and staff persons at its office Natraj Tower in Civil Lines.
