Cops and residents ‘Run for Unity’

Around 2,000 policemen and residents enthusiastically participated in mini marathon ‘Run for Unity’ to mark the National Unity Day on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, on Wednesday. Run for Unity was organised under the direction of Superintendent of Police, Amit Singh.


Chief guest on the occasion was Inspector General of Police (Home Guard), Rajesh Chawla while Inspector General of Police (SAF), Raja Babu Singh, DIG (Jabalpur Range), Bhagwat Singh Chouhan, DIG (Women Crime), R. K. Rusia, Collector, Chhavi Bharadwaj, SP, Amit Singh, SAF 6th Battalion, Commandant, Lalit Shakyar and SP (Rail), Vinit Jain were specially present.
Guests flagged-off the half marathon at Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla Stadium, Wright Town and also participated in the event.


SP, Amit Singh informed that the mini marathon ‘Run for Unity’ was organised with an aim to bring spirit of unity amongst residents. Through the event residents were encouraged to be united and ensuring their cent percent participation in polling during forthcoming assembly elections in the district on November 28. Participants were also informed about traffic rules through posters banners and announcement and motivated them to inspire others for following the traffic safety rules for desired traffic improvement and saving precious lives.


The half marathon was passed through Teen Patti Chowk, Shastri Bridge, Chhoti Line square, Bandariya Tiraha, Rampur square, Polipathar and ended at Ayurvedic College ground, Gwarighat.


In the women’s competition, GRP Jabalpur’s Priya Singh bagged the gold medal while Rita Kewat and Woman Constable, Kusumlata secured silver and bronze medals. Gold medal winner was given cash prize of Rs. 5,000 while silver and bronze medal winners were given cash prize of Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 1,000.


In men’s competition, Rajesh Kumar Yadav clinched gold medal while Vikas Prajapati adn Rahul Sahu won silver and bronze medals. Gold medal winner was given attractive cash prize of Rs. 11,000 while silver and bronze medal winner were given cash prizes of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 2,500. Besides this, Divya Prakash, Rakshit TIwari, Shivam Noria, Radhakant Pandey and Manoj Patel and below 12-years of age named Rohit Kewat, Prince Singh, Anas Ali, Arsaj and Chinmay Dwivedi (GST Office Jabalpur) were given consolation prize of Rs. 1,000 each.
