Congress releases final list of candidates for 19 segments

Tamradhwaj Sahu replaces Pratima Chandrakar from Durg Rural seat

Introduced 15 new faces

Dr Renu Jogi denied Congress ticket

Congress has fielded Lok Sabha Member from Durg and Chairman of OBC Department of AICC Tamradhwaj Sahu from Durg Rural assembly segment, cancelling the ticket of Pratima Chandrakar. It may be mentioned that Congress had named Pratima Chandrakar as its candidate from Durg Rural in the third list. The Congress changed the candidate in the last hour. Congress released the fifth and final list of its candidates for the remaining 19 assembly segments going to poll in the second phase that is on November 20.


Central Election Committee of All India Congress Committee General Secretary Mukul Wasnik released the final list. The Congress’ list carries names of Chakradhar Prasad Sidaar (Lailunga-ST), Prakash Nayak (Raigarh), Vibhor Singh (Kota), Rajendra Shukla (Bilha), Shailesh Pandey (Bilaspur), Anil Kumar Chandra (Jaijaipur), Devendra Bahadur Singh (Basna), Anita Sharma (Dharsiwa), Kuldeep Juneja (Raipur City North), Kanhaiya Agarwal (Raipur City South), Gurmukh Singh Hora (Dhamtari), Sangeet Sinha (Sanjari Balod), Kunwar Singh Nishad (Gunderdehi), Tamradhwaj Sahu (Durg-Rural), Badruddin Qureshi (Vaishali Nagar), Ashish Chhabra (Bemetara), Gurdayal Singh Banjare (Nawagarh-SC) and Mamta Chandrakar (Pandariya).

The Congress announced the party candidates for all 90 seats. After releasing the names of party candidates, now the final battle line has been drawn for the ensuing political battle which will be between the BJP and Indian National Congress. As many as 15 new faces have been introduced in the final list and prominent among them are Shailesh Pandey, Rajendra Shukla, Vibhor Singh, Kanhaiya Agrawal and Ashish Chhabra.

Sitting Congress MLA from Kota Dr Renu Jogi, wife of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, has been denied the party ticket. The party fielded Vibhor Singh, who took voluntary retirement from the post of DSP and joined the Congress, from Kota assembly constituency.
