Governor inaugurates 3-day Rajyotsav

“It is the day of pride for the people of Chhattisgarh, a state which stepped into adulthood with the completion of 18th year of its foundation,” said an elated Chhattisgarh Governor Anandiben Patel, in her address at the inaugural ceremony of 3-day long Rajyotsav-2018 at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Udyog Evam Vyapaar Parisar, Atal Nagar (Naya Raipur). The ceremony marks 18th statehood day, on Thursday evening.


In her congratulatory message to the people of State, the Governor said, Chhattisgarh is endowed with a rich folk culture and natural diversity. She also showered praises for the efforts of the State government for hosting Rajyotsav ceremony every year and said that the event also provides a platform to artists to bring forth their diversified talents.


On the occasion, the Governor also urged the people of the state to visit Narmada district in Gujarat to see the 182-meter monumental statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also titled as the Statue of Unity. “The statue, which is the world’s tallest monument, also spreads the message of national unity,” she added.


Earlier, the Governor also visited Shilp Gram at the Rajyotsav venue. At the outset, Chief Secretary Ajay Singh read out the welcome speech On the occasion, Director General of Police (DGP) A N Upadhyay, Additional Chief Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Department, Government of Chhattisgarh and Nodal Officer of the Rajyotsav R P Mandal as well as Additional Chief Secretaries C K Khetan, Sunil Kujur and large number of other senior state government officers were present. Hereafter, artists from Bastar Band, singer Neeti Mohan and artists from Gujarat enthralled the audience. As per information from the organizers, Divyang children, Ankita Raut and other artists will perform On Friday. On November 3, third gender artists, singer Monty Sharma and students from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya Khairagarh will perform.
