‘Matdan Deepotsav’ held

A ‘Matdan Deepotsav’ was organised at Marine Drive under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme on Thursday. Chief Election Commissioner of India OP Rawat lit the lamps and appealed the people to use their right to vote. 

In this programme the Chief Election Commissioner Rawat met all the special children, transgenders, newly capable voters, NGO’s, students of the more Raipur club, the sleep soldiers recruited in the districts, and the awareness committees working to promote awareness and took a record of the updates till now.

Dignitaries present in the programme were Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, Ashok Lavasa, senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain, Deputy Election Commissioner Chandrabhushan Kumar, Director General Dilip Sharma, Director General Dhirendra Ojha, principal secretary N N Butoliya, Chief Election Commissioner Chhattisgarh Subrat Sahu, District Electoral officer Dr Basavaraju S, Inspector General of Police Dipanshu Kaabra, Nodal Officer of the SVEEP team Deepak Soni and Prashant Pandey from the State Election Commission.

The event was hosted by Collector and District Electoral Officer, Dr. Basavaraju S, Inspector General of Police Dipanshu Kaabra, Superintendent of Police Amresh Mishra, Nodal Officer of the SVEEP team Deepak Soni.

In the programme Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat was welcomed by tying a Band called ‘Matdata Bandhan’ on his wrist by the students present. From the Dias, Rawat conducted the oath taking ceremony and appealed the youth of the city to exercise their right to vote.
