BJP retains 5 candidates in Jabalpur district

BHARATIYA Janata Party has retained five candidates on five Assembly constituencies on Jabalpur district for Assembly elections slated on November 28. BJP State Headquarters, Bhopal, released first list of total 176 candidates on Friday.

BJP has repeated candidature of five MLAs including Anchal Sonkar in Jabalpur East-97, Ashok Rohani in Jabalpur Cantt-99, Nandini Maravi in Sihora-102, Pratibha Singh in Bargi-96 and Sushil Tiwari in Panagar-101 Assembly constituency. The party will soon declare candidates for Jabalpur West, Patan and Jabalpur North-Central constituencies.

BJP candidates had registered victory in six out of eight Assembly constituencies in Jabalpur district in last elections. Ashok Rohani had registered record victory against Congress candidate Sarveshwar Chaman Shrivastava by a record margin of 53,741 votes in Jabalpur Cantt-99, while Sushil Tiwari defeated Congress’ Rupendra Patel by a lead of 27,954 votes in Panagar constituency.

Nandini Maravi defeated Congress’ candidate, Jamuna Maravi by a lead of 15,004 votes in Sihora and Pratibha Singh defeated Congress leader Thakur Sobran Singh by a lead of 7,399 votes.

Anchal Sonkar registered victory over his closest opponent and Congress’ sitting MLA Lakhan Ghanghoria by a close margin of 1,155 votes.
