Students said that the warden has allegedly collected Rs 90,000 from them, which is illegal. The university has no provision of charging any kind of amount from students directly. The university released receipt of any payment and amount are being paid at the counter only.

When students complained about the issue to the Vice Chancellor and Registrar, a three-member committee was formed to probe the matter. After investigating the matter, committee found the warden has cheated the students. The three-member committee included HoD Renu Guthurwal, DSW Bhupendra Singh and former Vice Chancellor Nisha Dubey. The committee has submitted its report to the Vice Chancellor RJ Rao for further action.

Hostel dwellers of Barkatullah University have filed several complained about lack of facilities. Girl students of BU hostel complained that there is shortage of water in hostel for past one month. They said they are not being provided drinking and normal water both. They alleged there is not cooler in hostel room due to which they are suffering in scorching heat. Three months back, when hostel inmates of Indira Gandhi Girls Hostel reached to register their complaint with VC, hostel Warden Dr Anita Dhurvey and Chief Warden Aaiyasha Raees followed the students. Warden asked students to calm down and not to talk to the Vice Chancellor. Students started crying before VC and asked to solve the issue soon.

Concerned with the issue, former Vice Chancellor D C Gupta asked officials to provide drinking water to the students and make arrangement for water in hostel. In month of February, boys hostel also complained for the same issue with VC and Registrar. In a meeting with head of the departments and officials, former VC Gupta asked to address the grievances of hostel students on priority basis. Replying over the questions of VC Gupta, Registrar UN Shukla informed that he had personally visited the hostels.

Registrar Shukla said, all issues have been registered and problem of hostel students will be resolve within week. Taking note of complaints of students regarding lack of facilities in boy and girl’s hostels, registrar visited hostels in March last week. While visiting Jawahar and Munshi Premchand Hostel, Registrar Shukla interacted with students and checked the records. He also scolded the clerk for not providing hostel record from year 2010 to 2016. He directed to take action and also release notification regarding the issue.

Students of university hostels are continuously complaining about lack of facilities including electricity, water, cleanliness etc. They have filed several complaints to the concern officers but no one addressed the issue yet. Even many complaints have not been forwarded to the registrar by concern officers which made the registrar Shukla irritated and he initiatively visited the hostels. Registrar Shukla also took an engineer with him on visit of hostel. He directed the engineer to complete the repairing work in all hostel rooms within a week. He asked all concerned department to improve the facilities in hostel and keep the campus clean.
