Players protest against barricading near stadium for weekly market

under Smart City Project, barricading done near main entry gate of TT Nagar stadium for under construction ‘Haat Bazaar’ arrangement is not only causing huge inconvenience to sports persons but has also left them concerned. On Friday, different sports bodies, staged massive demonstration near TT Nagar stadium main gate, opposing barricading arrangement for ‘Haat Bazaar’.

They said that barricading is causing huge inconvenience to them. Countless sports persons, sports bodies and coaches joined hands to form human chain to protest the move. Sports persons including girl players raised slogans and demanded intervention of responsible authorities.

Demonstrators demanded that barricading if necessary, should be done 30 meters away from main entry gate of TT Nagar stadium. They also demanded that place for Haat Bazaar should be allotted to Sports Department.

Demonstrators were led by Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association. On the occasion, Olympic Association’s Secretary Digvijay Singh, Vice President of Rowing Federation of India Devraj Singh, Jaidev Sharma (Karate coach) and others were present. Demonstrators also flayed the irresponsible behavior of sports officials over the entire matter.

Digvijay Singh, Secretary of MP Olympic Association, while talikng to ‘The Hitavada’ said, “Memorandum has been given to Governor and responsible officers of Government. Haat Baazar will prove bane to TT Nagar Stadium as it will be busy with visitors and will cause lot of problems to sportsmen. TT Nagar stadium has been built at the estimated cost of around Rs 300 crore with national and international facilities and Haat Bazaar will get destroy it. Stadium could not be shifted elsewhere, hence, Haat Bazaar should be shifted somewhere else,” he demanded.
