State achieves another milestone of record power supply on Oct 31

STATE power sector has achieved another milestone of meeting peak electricity demand upto 12,268 MWs by supplying 2,543.16 lakh units on October 31. Electricity demand has been increased following peak agriculture season and stretching power distribution infrastructure in rural areas. Peak power demand in the State was 12,240 MWs on December 28, 2017.  Record supply of 2,355.12 lakh units was done in the State, on November 17, 2017.

On October 31, 2018, power sector broke these two records of meeting peak power demand and ensuring record supply. In 2012-13, maximum demand in the State was reported upto 9,804 MWs that increased upto 12,268 MWs in October 2018.

Similarly, maximum electricity supply of 1,813.12 lakh units was carried out during 2012-13. Record supply of 2,543.16 lakh units on October 31, 2018 is 40 per cent higher that the supply carried out in 2012-13.  Power companies are all set to meet highest demand upto 13,000 MWs during November 2018.

Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited (Indore & Ujjain Division) registered highest demand upto 5,071 MWs, while demand upto 3,915 MWs was reported in Bhopal and Gwalior divisions under Madhya Kshetrai Vidyut Vitran Company Limited and 3,282 MWs was reported in Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa divisions under Madhya Pradesh Poorva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited.

Record electricity demand of 12,268 MWs was met through supply of 3,574 MWs from thermal and hydel power stations of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited, while 1,249 MWs from Indira Sagar, Sardar Sarovar and Omkareshwar Hydel Power Projects, 2,763 MWs as share from Central Sector, NTPC, supply of 1,334 MWs from Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project and 1,534 MWs was supplied from Independent Power Producers and 1,814 MWs was supplied from other resources.
