Boy killed in road accident

A boy was killed and another was critically injured after being hit by speeding dumper in Green City area under the jurisdiction of Madhotal police station, on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Ashish Kol (24), son of Jagdish Kol, a resident of Kol Basti while Amit Kol, son of Kunjilal Kol was critically injured.

According to Madhotal police, they received information of a road accident near Green City and a police team reached the spot. Police found that two boys riding on a motorcycle from Krishi Upaj Mandi towards Green City when a speeding dumper loaded with garbage bearing registration number MP-20GB-0199 driving carelessly by the driver rammed into their motorcycle. In the mishap, riders were thrown off from their motorcycle. One of them, Ashish Kol was crushed under the wheels of dumper and succumbed to his critical injuries on the spot of accident. The injured named Amit Kol was rushed at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital where his condition is reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, the accused dumper driver managed to escape from the spot and left behind his dumper. Witnessing the tragic incident, a large number of passer-bys and residents were gathered on the spot and started vandalising the dumper. Agitated public pelted stones on dumper and staged road blockade against the rampant operation of heavy vehicles on crowded road. Learning about the incident, SHO of Madhotal police station, Akhilesh Gaur (Probationary DSP) along with additional force reached the spot and interacted with the agitated public. Police officers managed to convince the agitators and removed the road blockade. Police sent the body for post-mortem after conducting Panchnama. Madhotal police have registered a case under sections 304 (A), 279 and 337 of the IPC while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
