Staff Reporter,

RESENTMENT among disgruntled party workers and leaders over denial of Assembly ticket has left both BJP and Congress in tight spot. The rebellious attitude of angry leaders is giving sleepless nights to both the parties and they are busy in damage control exercise. The BJP has put prestigious Govindpura Assembly seat of Bhopal on hold due to adamant attitude of sitting MLA and ex-CM Babulal Gaur to contest election. Moreover, Gaur’s daughter-in-law and former Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur is also hoping to fight election from Govindpura seat. Supporters of the duo are demanding that BJP should give ticket either to Babulal Gaur or to Krishna Gaur, otherwise they are ready to resign from BJP. Krishna Gaur is even ready to contest election as independent candidate.

Meanwhile, Congress is trying to lure both Babulal Gaur and Krishna Gaur. BJP is trying hard to come out of this complex situation to declare candidate on Govindpura seat. BJP is also facing wrath of disgruntled leaders and their supporters on some other Assembly seats of State as well. Former PWD Minister and sitting BJP MLA from Seoni Malwa in Hoshangabad, Sartaj Singh is upset after he came to know that his name has not been considered for ticket and someone else is going to be the candidate from Seoni’s Malwa seat.

Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ Sartaj Singh said that BJP has decided to deny ticket to him. “I met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP State President Rakesh Singh, MP BJP Incharge Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and asked them to tell the reason for denying ticket. They told that they will keep things before central committee,” he added. He added that so far he has not decided his future course of action and will talk to his supporters before taking any decision. “What can I say now, I will be able to say after a decision is taken after meeting my supporters,” he added.

Notably, Sartaj Singh has contested many elections and remained undefeated. He holds the grip till grassroot level. BJP MLA from Bagli Assembly constituency Champalal Dewda is also fuming after the party denied ticket to him and is preparing to fight election as independent candidate. “People are upset after BJP denied ticket to me and gave ticket to a little known and outsider person. My supporters are building pressure on me to contest election as independent candidate. I will file nomination papers as independent candidate soon,” said BJP MLA Champalal Dewda to ‘The Hitavada’.

Congress is also facing similar situation on some Assembly seats of the State. There is news that Congress workers are breathing fire against declared candidate on Ratlam rural seat. Front leaders of Ratlam Rural Assembly constituency are doing strength show, demanding to change the ticket. There is also strong resentment against BJP candidate in Maharajpur seat of Chhattapur. BJP has fielded sitting BJP MLA Manvendra Singh from this seat but local BJP workers are not happy with the party’s decision. They have started to raise voice against Manvendra Singh’s candidature and now, local BJP workers are doing meetings and trying to finalise future strategy.

In Congress, there is resentment against workers in those areas where outsiders or new entrants have been fielded. For instance, Congress has given ticket to ex-BJP leader Padma Shukla from Vijayraghogarh.
