Metro Safety Park opens for public

MAHA Metro Nagpur’s ‘Metro Safety Park developed at Little Wood on Hingna Road is the country’s first of its kind park, said Durga Shankar Mishra, Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary of India.


He was speaking at the inauguration of the Safety Park. Also present were Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of Maha Metro; Mangu Singh, Managing Director of Delhi Metro Railway Corporation; Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Managing Director of Chennai Metro Railway; Dr I P Gautam, Managing Director of Mega Metro Railway; Kumar Keshav, Managing Director of Luknow Railway Corporation; Vinay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of NCRTC Metro Railway; Mahesh Kumar, Director (Project) Nagpur Metro; S Shivnathan, Director (Finance) Nagpur Metro; Anil Kokate, General Manager (Administration) Nagpur Metro. Appreciating the Park, Mishra suggested that the such parks should be set up by all metros.


“Little Wood is a gift for Nagpurians and best alternative for picnic amidst greenery within the city limits. Maha Metro should maintain the beauty and greenery of the park,” Mishra said. Maha Metro has planted 5,500 saplings out of which 90 per cent have started growing. Different varieties of saplings have been planted in the area with the help of Forest Department. The Safety Park comes on 600 square feet area in Little Wood.

The Safety Park has three hexagonal structure for different purposes. The Safety Park has beautiful landscape, and will be important for people’s safety. Safety Park is the combination of modern and traditional architect. The Safety Park is built with the help of bamboos. All people from different strata of the society will get the message of safety from the Safety Park and it will go a long way in increasing awareness about safety.
