EC team to review poll preparations

Chief Electoral Officer V L Kantharao informed that Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat and two Election Commissioners will review Assembly elections-related preparations on November 13 and 14. On November 13, review of Ujjain, Indore and Narmadapuram will be done in Indore. In the evening, EC team will have meeting with all political parties in Bhopal.

Moreover, the Election Commission team will review election preparations of Chambal, Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Gwalior and Sagar divisions in Bhopal on November 14. Kantharao gave this information while addressing press conference in state capital on Monday.

Talking about nomination papers procedures, he told that candidates also needs to file revised affidavit giving information of their criminal record and so far, 63 candidates have deposited such affidavits and they have been down loaded on website of the Election Commission.
He added that since the date of imposition of model code and till Sunday, Election Commission has seized cash around Rs 11 crore. Likewise, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 2.28 crore have been confiscated apart from drug costing Rs 5.37 crore and illegal liquor of more than 7 crore. Over all seizure of cash and other materials is Rs 31 crore.

There are 17 such cases in which cash seizure was more than Rs 10 lakh and such cases have been handed over to Income Tax Department. The reason behind carrying out of huge cash and ornaments by concerned persons is being investigated.

Talking about voting day, he said that if one fails to get the voter ID then he can go and caste votes by using alternative documents such as Passport, Aadhaar Card, MNREGA job card, pension papers, bank passbook etc. Even voter slip would be distributed to voters before voting.
The Election Commission has already informed that there has been cent percent disbursal of voter ID cards.

He informed that for election duty, as many as 650 central paramilitary companies are going to be deployed and so far, 50 companies have already arrived in State and they have been deployed in different districts. The 650 paramilitary companies includes 139 CRPF company, 116 BSF company, 108 CISF company, 150 companies of forces of other states, 47 companies of ITGP and 45 companies of RPF.

He also added that this time, as many as 14,000 voting centres will have facility of CCTV and Web. Last time, only 6,000 voting centres had such kind of facility. He said that as many as 1,776 voting centres are located in such places where mobile phone does not work. At such places help of police wireless set would be availed. Moreover, discussion has been done with private mobile company which says that it can cover 200 such polling stations. Meanwhile, thirteen political parties, including CPI, Congress, BSP, have given the list of star campaigners.

He told that action has been taken against two workers of Jan Abhiyan for indulging in publicity campaign.
